Yep, people are totally in denial as to what's happening in this town. With the price of property and taxes in this town it's a complete embarassment that not only vandalism but more serious crimes like assaults and robberies are allowed to happen. This gang crap has got to go!

My wife's family has lived in Port for over 60 years (house passed down through 3 generations). If things don't change we will definately be the last!

Its only going to get worse Port North, that town is now run by Democrats. They want all the "Old Blood" OUT !! There solution is to leave all the illegals alone (future voters, cheap domestic help and landscaping)and create "white flight" to form a socialist system with HUGE goverment like there ancestors did in Queens.

i am a hippy democrat working towards my law degree (which my parents do not pay for, by the way). i live in dolphin green. i filed a police report a few weeks ago when the spare tire was stolen off my non-bmw suv while parked outside my home. like you, roastbeefjackson, i am upset that these acts of vandalism, whether gang-related or not, continue.

before i begin to address your comments, one preliminary matter: i do not even have a tv. i cannot afford a tv, and even if i could, i would not be watching american idol or big brother because i work full time during the day and attend law school part-time, at night. in short: stop tyring to stereotype me as some rich *******, which i am not, treat me with respect, and i will do the same.

(1) jailing all illegal immigrants will have consequnces beyond what you have suggested: that the rest will flee. i think any attempt at going door-to-door with deputized police officers arresting anybody without papers would incite more senseless acts of vandalism from the indigent, who already live in fear of our government. furthermore, all the people who rent illegally would lose a source of income, in addition to watching their property values decline. lastly, the costs of ordinary services around port washington would increase, since there is no more cheap and willing supply of labor.

(2) doesn't port washington have its own police department? how does the town of north hempstead factor into this situation?

(3) are you suggesting that some sort of reverse-gentrification is taking place in port washington? becasue i dont think any amount of violence will force the upper class to flee, they are too well entrenched.

(4) when the vandalism goes beyond affecting the working class, and windows are broken in sands point, we will see an immediate and effective response. if the window smashers are reading this, WHY THE FCK ARE YOU PICKING ON THE WORKING CLASS PEOPLE?

Yes, you are right, we will leave. The future of Port will consist of the rich in Sands Point that will send their kids to private schools and the rest which will have to endure a rapidly increasing illegal alien population and declining public schools.
