Sure the Loft Lake area of Baldwin, IMO, is one of the nicest parts. If thats Oceanside schools, then its a no brainer.

I have done a bunch of inspections on those homes, well built, on the older side that require some upgrades but structure and framing wise, very good homes. Good luck!

We loved the house but the seller is not to comfortable with an FHA loan & 3% down. Our realtor said we should speak to the seller ourselves. We really want this house.

Default Any info on area would be great

Hello everyone, first time posting anything.

My husband and I found this house in Baldwin, NY, on Berkley Street to be exact, and wanted more information. I been reading the other post and must admit I'm scared but really think the house is great and what I've read about the school (lenox) is better than where we live now.

I just want to hear, or read what people who live there know about this area.

Thanks

My parents bought in a new subdivision in Baldwin near the harbor off Northern Blvd. in 1958. All brand spanking new tract homes with nice young families where a four year old could walk unattended around her block in safety. These are the memories I have of Baldwin. I left with my family in 1961 and haven't been back since and was saddened to read how much the area has changed. When did it change from what I grew up with to what others are describing here including gangs? I am helping a friend move to Northport next month and was thinking of taking a trip to the old neighborhood but maybe I should just remember the way it was.

That's a good neighborhood, close to where Baldwin, Rockville Centre and South Hempstead all border each other. DeMott Avenue has some very impressive homes along it. It's one block over from Grand Avenue so it might be a little noisy, and have more traffic because of it. "North Baldwin" gets an even worse rep than the rest of the town, but the fact of the matter is that it's a higher income area with nicer housing than everything else north of Sunrise. Towards the Roosevelt border there are some dumpy areas, but near Grand Avenue it's all gravy.

Ask the neighbors on the block, there are some pretty ridiculous opinions about Baldwin on this forum.
