I have seen good reviews about schools in NHP in greatschools.org. I'm here to see if I get any other parents who sent their kids to Hillside Grade School. are these schools better than Charter schools?
I grew up in New Hyde Park and lived there for 15 years. The schools are fine. The town is diverse now, with very little crime and a good place to raise kids. Just an FYI, the southern part of New Hyde Park, (south of the NHP train station and railroad) is zoned for the Elmont school district. Although this is a great area, you don't want to send your kids to that school district.
Hillside Grade though is a nice school, and in one of the nicest areas of New Hyde Park in my opinion, Manor Oaks.

You must mean that it's zoned for Sewanaka High School, which is not exactly horrible.
NHP HS is part of the Sewanhaka school district, which encompasses Elmont, Franklin Square [H Frank Carey HS], Sewanhaka, and Floral Park & NHP memorial HS. It's my understanding that if one of those school has a specific program, but but not the others, you're eligible to enroll if you're a member of that district.
