Yep all gone mostly due to the DWI laws and rents.
I remember Carols Place in Long Beach. At 2 AM the cops started lining up to follow and find a reason to pull people over.
The best thing going is Memory Motel in Montauk during the summer, everybody walks or it’s a $7.50 cab ride anyplace walk the strip and re-enter.
The worst place I ever played was OBI South. The owner was a real nasty and the bouncers were all crazy from steroid use beating up people.

The guy who used to own OBI just died recently, Matheson? I remember all of his "Get out of NY before its too late" campaigns.
Other clubs that since come & gone.... Spyz, My Father's Place, 007, Malibu, Paris NY, Spit. All WLIR hangouts. There was also Channel 80 for the guido crowd.
I think the club in the Garden City Hotel is still up & running.

Yeah, thats him
I remember that creep shorting us $125 one Labor day weekend Sat night and wanting to give us a check. (not in the contract)
The whole place was jammed from front to side back to back he must have made $500,000 in 1982 money.
Mark Coppola wanted to play a song with us (to show off) for saying the name of the band on the radio.
The set ended up being 2 minutes short of music do to the extra setup delay, picking a song.
Matheson was greedy asshat who didnt give a sh*t about nothing but money and power IMO
Eppy from MFP and George Lucus from US Blues are still around, seen them at the Little Buster Memorial jam in Glen Cove.
Prince even showed up.

All this talk about these clubs makes it time to crank up the Good Rats Live at Last! What a great band and a great album.

You know Mulcahy's in Wantaugh and Centereach are trying to fill the void. They still have bands play and get big names in Wantaugh.

BTW, Who are the big bands on LI now? Is the scene anything like it was back in the mid to late 70's/early 80's?
Besides the Rats, TS and Zebra anybody remember Broken Arrow, Stanton Anderson, Vixen, Samantha...?
