Islanders, Barclays eye escape clause to get team out of Brooklyn | New York Post

Report: The Islanders Are Struggling In Brooklyn

Interesting. I knew this Brooklyn move would be a disaster from the start.

the existence of this escape clause has been rumored/discussed for quite some time.

You would think at some point they're just going to move completely out the area to Canada or some other location.

Yeah but now with the first year of awful attendance figures, the panic over there has already begun. I mean who couldn't see this coming? It was a terrible idea doomed from the start. They honestly would have been better off financially moving out of state.

The new owners supposedly want to come back to LI but supposedly want a new stadium built. LOL Good luck with that pal.

I read the comments from the Barclay's side... if you have obstructed view just watch it on mobile (or something like that). Haha. They don't give a crap about hockey and their fans.

Let's see....Brooklyn....predominantly Rangers fans. Let's put a rival team there in an arena that's a p.i.t.a. to get to and cry about crappy attendance. Now the owner of Barclays wants to fix up Nassau Coliseum but only put in 13,000 seats. Yep..that'll work.

Hello Vegas.

Hello Vegas.
Supposedly they can easily add 3000 seats. There is a provision in the plans if the need arises actually.

After looking at Isles attendance past five years they only need a couple more folding chairs than the 13k.

How is Barclay's Center any harder to get to than Penn Station?

I don't want to hear anyone having to whine about changing at Jamaica, it's SUPER easy, the train to Brooklyn usually comes minutes later

Maybe the problem is that pretty much all Islanders fans are from Long Island and many of them are afraid to go to Brooklyn or something.

You just answered your own question. Getting on 1 train which literally stops under the arena is yes, easier than having to switch trains at Jamaica.

I didn't hesitate to drive down Old Country Road to bring my family to an Isles game when they played my fav team. But to lug them all to park at Hicksville LIRR, pay for 3-4 tix then wait for the train and head down to Brooklyn after a change at Jamaica, and come back so late? Fat chance.
