I thought everyone was leaving LI?
I never saw so much traffic in my life! Almost every hour is rush hour!
Along with these huge apartment complexes going up, condos all over, ect...

But everyone is leaving? Well, according to CitiData at least.

LOL One or two semi-serious Citi-data multi-posters are convinced otherwise.

People go and people come. Population maintains itself.
Contrary to some beliefs, I don't see LI being the next Detroit anytime soon.

If the above was true, we wouldn't need extra housing complexes that keep going up.
We would also have a huge inventory of vacant homes.

Long time residents leave due to the cost of living, mainly the taxes. The population is sustained by immigrants arriving and people fleeing the city for more space. All the population studies bear this out.

That trend is nothing new ( NYC and immigrants incoming, older folks outgoing) . And a few citi-data multi posters are shocked.

Who is paying 2500 for a one bedroom, especially in suffolk? I thought apartment complexes were geared towards younger 20 to 30 somethings usually single. Is the average 26 year old that is not a hedge fund manager or investment banker in NYC finding an apartment anywhere on LI? No clue how 22-30 year olds find housing outside of living with their parents.
