I bought a property in Nassu and going through this right now. The tank is in the basement but how they found out.... We filed for permits for some work we are going to do and the town got back to us saying our paperwork shows gas and their records shows as the house using oil. No permit was issued for the conversion and the town doesn have a abandonment certificate on file and wants us to produce one. Now we have a company coming in next week to remove the tank and will pro idea is with a certificate, costing us $600.

The tank is gone. The Op already said he had a company come out and look for one with detectors and they found none.

Would almost be easier to buy an empty, clean used tank for cheap, bury it, sod it over, then have someone come and "discover" it and do a proper abatement.
