That Bernie had a great grassroots campaign isn't in question, but he didn't win anywhere near the number of regular delegates that Clinton did. Did they put their finger on the scale, probably, but I doubt it made a big difference except to alienate Sander's supporters. He was pulling in cash at a nice clip but also was spending it, Clinton wasn't. No matter how well Bernie did it never would have been enough for the general Democratic electorate and definitely not the general electorate.

I'll mostly agree with you there, but he wouldn't have cleared the deadwood out unless he had won. The DNC like the RNC is like a tick that's hard to get out. Bernie is also a political animal and actually had something to lose because of his ties to the DNC. Trump on the other hand had zip to lose except time, money and some pride which in the end was pretty powerful with flipping the bird to the GOP establishment.
I'll agree with you (except that 'tick' analogy is incomprehensible to me).

Interestingly, Trump grew quite close to the RNC head (Reince Priebus) during the general election process and, in fact, has rewarded him with the plum (and key) White House Chief of Staff position.

In the end, Trump realized he actually emerged from an essentially equitable primary process. Especially when contrasted with the wildly dishonest (see wikileaks and super delegates) DNC process. Trump was not the GOP establishment favorite (he may have been their very least favorite) yet he emerged victorious from the relatively honest RNC primary process due to popular support.

(Of course Bernie would have been clobbered in the general election worse than he was in the primary. In the lefty echo chamber running a Socialist is not seen as the death sentence it actually is here in real world USA. One of Bernie's biggest supporters looks to be moving into the DNC Chief position and will seek to recapture the rust belt as a way of resurrecting the battered party.)

With just the knowledge that the Supreme Court will not be filled with America hating progressive scum is reason alone I will still be celebrating in two years...especially if the Bill Clinton appointed doddering hag Ginsberg and the 2nd Amendment hating Breyer retire or croak.

Wrong. GOP took him very seriously (especially after he caught and then thumped Hillary in the primary).

The idea of Ellison leading efforts for a Dem recapture of the white rust belt (notwithstanding that he is a radical Muslim, pal of Farrakhan, and the leading advocate of slave reparations in the Congress) is actually funny. In the lefty echo chamber it might make sense. Out here it's a hoot!

Agree. I don't recall anyone not taking Obama seriously especially after thumping Hillary (and his massive crowds). Nonsense to say otherwise.

Pretty funny the 2 posters with the strongest opinions since the election didn't have the courage to post before the election.

I'm pretty sure that ChalkItUp didn't win anything except maybe a frothing-at-the-mouth award.
