Public transportation sucks. Gamble your life every time you step foot on a train or a plane.
No thank you.
Even though I'm 1000x more likely to die in my own car.
Not funny people hurt and that is your response, really?
I don't think it's particularly funny, but I do believe the poster's anger and sarcasm is as telling of a systematic problem as the LIRR crash is in itself.
Now my monthly will go up twice as much next year because all the conductors, even the ones that were off, have to go through some therapy sessions or else they may retire early because the car crashed into their safe space!

So take a car if you think it is so bad. I commuted for 20+ years in the Oyster Bay line and delays and all I would always go for the rails.

the worst thing about taking public transportation: the public.
our local daily newspaper just reported the most likely cause of the crash : human error.
Perhaps we need to pay the LIRR personnel higher salaries. This may attract a better workforce for the railroad.

This is upsetting, of course, but seriously what is LIRR's injury rate per passenger mile. It's gotta be vanishingly low. Cold comfort of it happens to you, though.
