Hello community - first post here. Really appreciate all of the insight from everyone who has posted in the past. It's been extremely helpful.

My girlfriend and I are likely moving to Bay Shore/Babylon area in July. We're currently in Nassau county.

Looking for nicer apartment complexes in the vicinities of Southside Hospital or Good Sam. The twist is that we have a larger dog and it has been notoriously hard to find apartment complexes or townhouse communities that allow this.

Can anyone offer any insight/recommendations???

Thanks so much!

1. How do you define "nicer" apartment complexes?

2. What breed is and how much does your dog weigh?

There are a few complexes out there, even for dogs, but breed and weight do matter. Your budget also matters

Timing is because of residency, not sure if there were any seasonal trends.

dog weighs 75 lbs (greyhound)

by nicer i meant we're looking for recently updated with a loft area if possible.

Loft area? That will be extremely hard to find. You know rent for a single bedroom unit in a decent complex will run you at least $1500 mo. The dog...that's another story but doable.

$1,500? Hardly. Count on at least $1,700/month; most will be around $2,000/mo+
Rents in apartment complexes are generally higher than in private homes; and the more amenities they offer, the more fees could be added for various things. And then there is the pet deposit and/or fee...

Sorry RE expert but there are a couple complexes in the Bay Shore that have single room rentals for $1400-$1500. Not the best places but there are. The decent ones run closer to $2k mo.

As for that 75 lb dog.....good luck.

There is one rental currently available for $1,450.
Are you talking about SINGLE ROOM RENTALS? I was talking about 1-bedroom rentals, which usually include a kitchen and living room.

Isn't the OP looking for "nicer complexes"?

The dog - that's another story altogether
