Does Long Island have its own heavy metal/thrash/death metal terrestrial radio station? NJ has WSOU Seton Hall's Pirate Radio that plays heavy metal, and thrash and melodic death metal and all substyles of that kind of genre.

Does Hofstra, or Stony Brook, or LIU have its own radio stations?

At this time, I believe the answer is "no".
There have been a few specialty programs on college radio over the years that played metal but I'm not aware of anything current.

I might actually listen to the radio if they did....

And coincidentally, WBAB's staple Finger's Metal Shop just played their last show a few weeks ago. The end of an era...

I remember listening to WSOU in the late 80's - early 90s when I was a high school kid. Was able to get an ok signal in Great Neck if I positioned the antenna just right. When I went to college and then med school, both in the city, I could never get a clear signal even though it was physically closer to NJ.

SBU has its own radio station, WUSB 90.1. Decades ago it was great and played a lot of up and coming acts with very little 'rap'. Now, not so much. Right now they're talking about N Dakota and the 'indigenous brothers and sisters'.

Here's the schedule: Weekly Schedule | WUSB 90.1 FM Stony Brook, NY

That's so sad! I am barely in the car late enough to listen, but I did whenever the opportunity presented itself.

There is only one WSOU anywhere. Now there are internet options but SOU is one of a kind.
