I noticed that Lynbrook schools, district 20 are rated 8/10 on great schools, and unranked on the U.S schools site. Does anyone have any concerns on the schools ratings dropping in the 10 years or so? Or have they remained constant throughout the years?

Pros: Great schools (SD 20), Close-knit community, great housing stock (although yes, many need updating), easy commute to city with 2 LIRR stations (Westwood and Lynbrook) and lots of trains..

Cons: High taxes, generally smaller lot sizes (50x100) although may be a pro if you like walkable, everyone knows your neighbor type communities. If you're looking for the anonymous suburban lifestyle in the woods Lynbrook is not for you!

Crime is not an issue. Lynbrook PD is on top of things and there are a lot of working/retired cops that live in Lynbrook.

Your best bet would be to look at homes in SD 20 in the Westwood/West End section (triangle bounded by Merrick Road to the south, Whitehall Street to the north and Stuart Ave to the east), or the entire section south of Sunrise Highway. West of Hempstead Ave and north of Sunrise is generally SD 12 despite being located in the village of Lynbrook.

Crime is LOW there, it should not be a consideration at all.

Nah. Lynbrook, Hewlett and RVC are all much better than those rankings suggest.
