Heard Town of Oyster Bay jacking up parking fees astronomically.
Anyone have any information on this?

Thank you

They announced today that they scrapped that idea due to opposition. Was just another one of those money grabs LI is known for. Now we just have to wait & see what the next money grab will be. They already added more fees the other day for homeowners. And more fees for closings on new properties. LI has gone NUTS! But it always was in terms of COL. They really need to get their filthy hands out of LI'ers pockets already!

I would pay that to be guaranteed a close spot.

Read the entire article, not just the headline - it's not for every spot.

Douglaston LIRR train station charges a lot more than $100 a month to park, so does the Little Neck Stop. Big deal.

Those lots are private. And you have to be an idiot to park at Little neck as street parking is very easy. Not once did TOBAY say it was going to be $100 a month. They had this idea to charge $100 per month for a guaranteed spot in the front of the station. The plan was to designate 800 or so spots across 4 stations with this money grab idea. Currently a permit is $20 for 2 years to any TOBAY resident.

According to today's Snoozeday:

Town of Oyster Bay officials are abandoning a plan to set aside 852 spaces at four Long Island Rail Road lots for $100-a-month "premium parking", after receiving complaints from numerous residents.

So town should lease lots to a private company at sky high rents and let them lease them out.

Spots are too cheap in some towns. Some South Shore towns only charge $5 bucks a year for parking. You actually see cars in lots Monday till Friday all summer. Kids who live in Manhattan leave their car at station as easy for getting back and forth to beach and Hamptons.
