I have an appt with slomins next week (previous owners used them for oil and alarm). I was planning on having them deliver oil for another month before i make the switch.

Do you guys have recommendations for gas heat conversion? There's already gas for cooking, so I'm not really sure what else needs to be converted. Is it just the boiler/furnace and water heater? Is there anything else we need?

Its got forced air heat by the way.

Gas can be hooked up to run your clothes dryer and BBQ as well. Not totally essential, but nice if you have the cash to buy all new appliances.

Sorry, I'm not sure. Haven't had the privilege (err, headache?) of home-ownership myself. Secondhand info. But I agree, it sounds cool.

I would wager a big definitely. We hadn't used the dryer much until we got a new one and our gas bill has been just about the same despite its use a few times a week. Gas is dirt cheap & efficient.

Call Holzhauer Plumbing for an estimate - they were great for us.

I converted to gas in 2008 but had gas already for hot water and stove. Still using an electric dryer and my electric bill has not really gone up. It's only 2 of us. I will say this NG for the BBQ is the best investment we made this past summer. No more running out of propane or worrying that your tank is expired. Had it ready to hook up for a few years and finally made the investment to buy a NG weber. I love it!!! We also have a NG heater for our garage as well.

^ I also inquired about extending the existing gas line out to the bbq and it was a lot of extra work / cost with the closed deck in place. Would've been nice, good luck with that.
