Jericho School District
Hi,
My daughter and husband are considering a move from Manhattan to Long Island. Their prefrerence is to purchase a home which belongs to the Jericho School District.
My attempts at finding which towns are part of this district have not been successful. Any help would be appreciated.
And, yes, they are aware of the very expensive real estate market -- however, they are moving from Manhattan -- everything is relative!
Thanks very much.

I think Jericho schools were in the top 10 of the nations best...I'm pretty sure their stats are stellar. Greatschoolsdotnet is a good source

Jericho, Brookville, Old Westbury, Muttontown, and even 1 house in East Hills are returned when you do a search on www.mlsli.com under the Jericho SD. This would be the best way to look.
Of course, depending on what they can afford, etc., the under $1million range is all Jericho, really. Once the prices go up, the "estate" areas are better represented.
Jericho is a top district. I think Roslyn and Manhasset are considered to be quite good. Also Great Neck and Garden City.
Good luck to them.

I worked for Jericho Schools
I was a substitute teacher in Jericho for two years before I moved down to Florida this year to get my own classroom. I miss Jericho they are by far an excellent school district. I got so spoiled working there. Jericho has 3 elementary schools(Seamen, Jackson, and Cantigue) and 1 middle school and 1 high school. The towns that are included in the Jericho district are Jericho, parts of Brookville, Old Brookville, Old Wesbury, and Muttontown. You should check out their website which is bestschools.org. They really are some of the best schools in the country. The students, and faculty are respectful and have a postive attitude towards learning which is the total opposite of Florida. The elementary schools have great programs such as flex where students learn spanish, french, chinese, etc. They also learn science in special science rooms. They learn keyboarding in computers. Young students depending on which school either go to a litreacy lab or they have someone come and do primary literacy. The middle school is great and they get a choice of a lot of fun electives such as community service class and design class. Any other questions feel free to ask. I can't wait until June when I will be home in NY and get to Sub there again.

Jericho schools
are rated number 14 in the COUNTRY. Top notch. However, finding a home in that area is expensive and taxes are extremely high. My husband and I wanted to buy a home in Brookville, Old Westbury and we wanted a large home 5000 -7000 sq feet. we wanted new. Yes we found homes in the 2-3 million range but the taxes were closer to $50k and we just cannot deal with that. What a watse.

Well, to be fair, you could also get a $600K split in Jericho proper and be in the same school district. But the taxes in the estate areas of Nassau are crazy. Well, you have 4 acre lots and no commercial anything, so that's what's left.

Yes
well my husband and I are now going to build a home in QUOGUE. The school district is amazing.. that too, has great programs where they start PRE-K and the kids learn computers and a foreign language. 15-16 per class size.
Anyway, we are going to build a home that will probably cost us 2M but will be worth 3M and if we seriously hate it there. Then we will go back to looking in Brookville, Muttontown and the like to be in the Jericho district or Lloyd Harbor in CSH district #16 in the country.

Well, that's a bit different. Sounds fantastic, though. Seems like more and more NYC people are moving out to the East End. Do you find this to be the case? Good luck to you.

East Hills
Yes, it's true, some parts of East Hills are in the Jericho School District.
East Hills is a great Village for young families and has the great "Park at East Hills" to offer, including a huge 12,000 square foot pool and 100 foot water park styled slide, tennis courts, hiking trails, and fitness center.
See Village of East Hills
I live here in East Hills and recommend it highly.
