Yes, I've heard. Whats interesting is that this happened in one of the most desirable part of NB.

As Wyandanch redevelops, surrounding towns may be impacted since it'll push out a lot of the trash. Deer Park and WB have had a couple of situations like this in recent years too.

It really happens everywhere every once in a while. Long term stats are what matters.

They've been working on that for some time now.
Here are some drawings of what's envisioned:

The Albanese Organization already has apartments for rent.

I'm going with...waste of money.
That area needs more than some nice sidewalks, lamps, and fancy structures.

The investors were smart to construct the apartments near the border... all they're going to do is ,in a few years, lobby the town to move the apartments into Deer Parks school district or add it to Wheatley Heights, raising the property value by at least 50%.

School district rezonings are very rare and there will obviously be a lot of push back from the residents of those districts to prevent it.

However, if the entire Wyandanch SD is dissolved due to low performance then this may come into fruition....but this has never happened on LI. And keep in mind that the area served by Wyandanch schools is pretty small so if it's equally divided up between its 4 or 5 neighboring districts then the impact likely wouldn't be catastrophic.
