If you are willing to travel to Brooklyn and save a life, check out Urgent Part 2 - Urgent Death Row Dogs facebook. Every evening a bunch of volunteers list the dogs that are about to be euthanized because the shelter ran out of room. I have 4 dogs, including one right now that I sadly need to put to sleep due to old age and illness. Out of my crew, I adopted one from the CACC in Brooklyn on Linden Blvd from seeing the Urgent 2 Facebook page, and he is the love of my life. He was saved in the nick of time from being euthanized as I saw him and drove right down to this place asap! He is the sweetest dog ever!!

His adoption fee was only $50 and he came microchipped, was neutered and had all of his vaccinations as well.

They have other locations besides Brooklyn. I think Manhattan and Staten Island as well...

Why are people recommending no kill shelters to adopt from? Do you think your pet will be killed by the facility after you adopt it?? You want to adopt from the shelters who have no space before they do get euthanized. Always check your town municipal shelter first.

Eh. Adopt from where you want, either way is great and a good thing to be encouraged. Adopting from a no-kill shelter saves two lives, the pet you bring home along with freeing up a spot in the no-kill shelter that can be used to rescue another animal from a traditional shelter.

Town shelters. Cheap and decent. Save your money for training and treats. We pay taxes to support them. Use them. Most have free or reduced fee adoption promotions around holidays or during the summer.
