It's empty (as a revenue generating source for outside bars and restaurants) for a total of 16 days. There are many other sporting and sports related events held there.
The only sport there is lacrosse now and oddly enough the Lizards ALSO average 5k attendance! The Lizards play 7 home games a year. I have no idea where you get events at Shuart Stadium 349 days per year. Mens and Women's lacrosse and the Lizards. Otherwise maybe some HS or lower tier local playoffs or championship games. Nothing that draws or raises revenue. If the Lizards are a defense for something, the Cosmos also avg 5k (ok, 4900+ since someone will nitpick) but played 11-12 games per year.
I'm still confused by all the negativity. So now is it good if the Lizards bail out too? "No loss. Who goes to lacrosse?!" Apparently 5K w/ cash in hand. D'oh!

Never wrote that there are that many days worth of events at Shuart per year. Where did you pluck that number from?
Hofstra has mens and womens soccer in addition to lacrosse. Bear in mind that this is a college facility leasing the stadium to the Lizards and once, the Cosmos. It isn't the other way around. The administration at Hofstra can do whatever they please with their facility.
Who knows if the Cosmos ever even paid Hofstra in full. They sure as heck weren't paying their landlord in Garden City!
Quentin Roosevelt Associates, LLC's case against the two-time defending North American Soccer League champions has been adjourned to Jan. 5, according to the First District Court of New York.
They Cosmos were summoned into court to pay back rent for $55,280.55 for their Long Island offices in Garden City, N.Y.
According to a petition filed in the District Court of New York in the County of Nassau (First District), Quentin Roosevelt Associates, LLC is looking to evict the team and to recover the aforementioned amount that is owed by the club, the organization claimed.
It was not immediately known how long the Cosmos have been in arrears.
I think you are oversimplifying things. Wang made out like a bandit due to Barclay's contract. He got 200 million more for the team with that contract than the team was worth on LI with a new arena or not. It was thought that Brooklyn would be a money maker for the new owners. Now we know it isn't true.
Wang spent over $400 million from 2000-2014 to buy the Islanders, run them and assume liabilities associated with the team.
He sold the team for $485 million in 2014.
FYI - $400 million in 2000 dollars translates to $549 million in 2014 dollars.
I doubt he made a penny, but just benefited from the tax writeoffs for the losses.
That could well be, but Red Bulls will have a great deal to say about it and they are the #1 soccer dog in the area. Even without a team here, big presence on LI as they offer the trainings utilized by most youth leagues. Red Bulls are yuge! lol
Respectfully disagree. New York City FC have become/img the #1 soccer dog in these parts.

Good! I hate that New Jersey team! Go NYC!
