Default Why does Nassau want to get rid of it's parks

We pay enough taxes, vote for environmental bond after environmental bond, and yet Suozzi sees fit to sell off our precious few nature preserve to towns, which could develop them into ballfields and limit access.
It seems Suffolk residents get much more from their government than we do.
Another reason to discourage anyone from moving to Nasty county, unless you like paying lots of $$ for a ****-poor government.
While Suffolk expands its parklands Nassau dismantles them.
Talks Commence in Ownership Transfer of Preserve to TOB

Evidently you don't pay enough in taxes. You never read someone in here arguing, "Gosh I wish we were taxed enough to preserve our parks." Nope, they all gripe. You get what you pay for.

If it were up to Suozzi every piece of green would be high density housing. He made a MESS when he was running Glen Cove with his never ending Re-zoning and variances.
The guy thinks like the Mayor Bloomberg who wants every one family house thrown into a landfill and its native NIMBY inhabitants, gutted, mounted and stuffed in museam's.
Suozzi was also part of the underhanded Trump deal at Jones Beach. Now Trump is now sueing because he cant get a variance. Why ? Because the property sits on a state park it wasnt Suozzi's call !!

Guess whos going to pay for this billion dollar lawsuite ?

Suozzi wants to citify everything and reduce mass transit. Sounds like a plan.

Not to defend him but Nassau County has NO money to pay for and maint. much of what it owns. Not just his fault, its been decades of waste and coruption. Its coming to roost........

A lot of people don't like Levy in Suffolk but he is will to pick a penny on the street if its saves money for the county. I like that, county unions don't!

So do you feel Suffolk's govt is better run than Nassau?

Better? Probably not, more fiscal sound, no doublt.

Nassau has much nicer (but are not maint.) & more parks and better libary system but they are not on my top 10 things I look for in an area.

If I need a book, I buy it. My kids just want to play on a playground, new or old, they could care less.

I've never known unions to advocate wasting money. Oh, wait. Did you mean on things like pay? Perhaps that is a waste. Sans unions, a lot of people wouldn't be able to afford living here.

But you think that's a waste.

Well lets see. Suffolk has much more parkland, and is involved in preserving more each year. The government in Suffolk is much more responsive to it's citizens. No matter how many letters or calls I make I never get a response from my own government here in Nassau, yet when I contact Suffolk they always get back to me. Steve Levy has actually tried to do things about the illegal alien problem. Look at all the new bills that are being passed to stop the problem at it's source, the people that hire illegals! Meanwhile in Nassau Suozzi aids and abets by pushing for more hiring halls, yet another example how Suozzi is out of touch with the middle class in this county, only caring about the rich.
Suffolk has always been more progressive, they have had a county legislature years before we finally got rid of our corrupt "board of supervisors".
Suffolk incorporates more bike lanes on it's roads. In Nassau there are no bike lanes.
Suffolk keeps their county buses in running shape without a state subsidy, Nassau's are falling apart because of the county's refusal to properly subsidize the system.
And once again our parks look like garbage. I dunno why anyone would choose to live in Nassau over Suffolk, perhaps the only reason is better LIRR service. But other than that, Suffolk is a better place.

You're letting Suozzi off the hook here. If he really wanted to save money, he'd get rid of county cars and stop voting for raises for himself and the legislature. He'd drive himself to work, like Steve Levy does. He'd try and save the county money by doing something about the illegal alien problem, instead of pushing more hiring halls.
Also the rich in this county are under-taxed while the middle and working class areas are overtaxed.
Suozzi is more of the same garbage we've been going through since Gulotta. It's the same good 'ol boys club no matter what party they are in.
