I am licensed but that has no bearing on why Travelers is nearly $800 cheaper for identicle coverage. My wife had already called GEICO. They did not raise her for that one claim. It was the 2nd $4300 claim that did it. Actually, it is the reason why Travelers quote is $3200 and not $2200. That said, the difference between the companies is quite a chunk. I think raising to $1000 ded is like a $40 savings. Not worth it.
I'd switch then! Travelers is fantastic! I've had them on my home and auto before and have put many clients with them. I do feel they are a much better company than Liberty Mutual.

I've had (mostly positive) experiences w/ all these companies (either as an insured or current/former employee since my practice area is insurance litigation) and the services and rates are very competitive across all the auto insurers in past few years. What you should be comparing is the types of coverage offered, deductibles, etc which will change the annual premiums. You have to shop around for quotes, and also look at other insurers that are lesser known (ie Farmers, Hartford, Chubb, AIG, 21st Century, Mercury, Kemper, etc) so that you get a better picture of what ranges/coverages are available to you.

I have had Liberty Mutual since I was on my Dad's policy in 1968 . I asked the (youngish) girl who just renewed my policy if I would be getting my gold watch next year ,
but she said , "Oh I don't think we do that, ma'am ."
