I've heard through the grapevine that there are places that buy back used college texts. I have a TON from undergrad and grad school- any ideas where I can sell them back? Hofstra is ridiculous- like $2 back per book.
The best place to sell used textbooks is on Amazon.com's Marketplace.
You type in the ISBN# located near the barcode on the book and they match up a photo of your text. There is no charge to list, it stays on there for 60 days, if it's not sold by then, you can relist at no charge - I relist until it sells.
When it sells, they charge commission based on the selling price, but also provide you with shipping charges. It's great! I've made 3x the $$ back on books then what my college bookstore wanted to give me for text books. Especially when you are spending over $100 per book, it would stink to only get $30 back!!! good luck!

Thanks!
$2? That's ridiculous! I always used to get at least $15-$20 at Farmingdale and Nassau....but the thing is, they print so many damn new editions of these books now that unless you take it back right after the semester ends, odds are a new copy is already in print and they won't even buy it.

I had that happen with a Chem text. I was offered $2 because the dept was using the new edition the following semester. The text made a wonderful door chock.
