Default Traffic and Parking in Great Neck

We are considering renting an apartment in the Schenk/Welwyn area apartments in Great Neck, just south of the train and east of Middle Neck Road. My wife will walk to the train but I will commute driving to near the suffolk border on the LIE or Northern.

I am wondering how hard it is to find parking near this apartment complex getting home around 7pm?

Also, how bad the traffic is getting to and from the LIE during rush hour?

TIA,
Telstar.

Just about Impossibl unless your condo/apt complex includes a rent a space option.
Great Necks density is that of Astoria.
Most the new Mid Eastern Princesses hit and run/drive like maniacs and claw each other in the middle of the street over parking there.

I can no longer go to the dentist on Bond Street, I have to park in Little Neck and take the train or cab. All the meter parking is full and now 30 minutes due to all the high end shopping.
Little Neck, Bayside and Dougliston is Nicer, less taxes !!

Gret Neck is "New Iran"

How about the municiple garages such as on Maple street since I will always be in in the evening and out before 9AM. I know they are $90/3 months but are they usually full?

Or how about getting a parking permit for LIRR parking? I would think that that would free up in the evening and it is a very short walk?

Or are all of these lots also full in the evening? I don't mind walking a few blocks. Also, do you know how safe they are?

I am only concerned about weeknight parking and should be able to get the Village of Great Neck Plaze parking permit. Or are they hard to get even if you are living there?

For those who may not be familiar with Great Neck Plaza:

Great Neck Plaza is a village (incorporated in 1930) in the northwest part of the Town of North Hempstead, in the northwest part of Nassau County.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Village of Great Neck Plaza in the Town of North Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Village of Kensington; on the east by the Village of Thomaston; on the south by the Village of Thomaston and the Village of Russell Gardens; and, on the west by the Village of Great Neck Estates.

Great Neck Plaza is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address: places in the Village of Great Neck Plaza have a "Great Neck, NY 11021" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County):

Walter, thank yo for that information. The apartment would be in Great Neck Plaza according to your map. Do you have any more information that may answer my questions about the availability of evening, overnight parking and if you have to wait to get the permits etc.?

Do the garages fill up at night?

Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know (bear in mind that I'm not a resident of any of the villages or hamlets on the Great Neck peninsula) the parking facilities are owned and operated by the Great Neck Park District, and you may get the information you seek by going here: Great Neck Parks

No overnight parking in The Town of North Hempsted period Unless yo go up by the older Apt buildings near the Post Office.
The LIRR offeres about 10 non resident spaces (I'm told its a 10 year waiting list for permits)
Too many non resident LIRR commuters want to park in Great Neck and Manhasset. They make it real difficult now, both stations only have 10-12 spaces for non residents
As far as I know that garage west of the GN Station plaza closes at a certain time and re-opens at 6AM.
There is a 24 hour by Northern and Nassau but I think its medical workers only
