Hmmm
Maybe Im wrong.

The Doctors Path Projects are right across from the sod farms.
I always assumed thats why people referred to those Projects as the Greens.

Either way Doctors Path is heinous.

Can you give a cross street? I genuinely don't know where you mean. North of East Main (by Town Hall, say) has been built up since mid-century at least. A few roads farther east, East Main St hits Main Road. That juncture, I believe, is Aquebogue.

I wouldn't. I'd go west to Shoreham or east to Jamesport. And in case you didn't know, you have to pay a Peconic Land Tax when you move any where on the north fork (Wading River and east). It is a percentage of the house sale and can get costly. Also, the locals on the north fork are not welcoming of out of towners - even if you grew up somewhere else in Suffolk county. Go Shoreham and west - regular people. Check out Soundview Acres in Shoreham - lovely.

This transfer tax applies to all five East End Towns - East Hampton, Southampon. Riverhead, Southold, and Shelter Island. You will pay 2% of the sale price for any home in any hamlet within any of those Towns.

Sweeping generalization. I might make the same about up-islanders.

Default For those who may not be familiar with East Shoreham

BonnieandMoose, that would be the Hamlet of East Shoreham, not the Village of Shoreham, right?; and, I'm guessing, BonnieandMoose, that you may have a property for sale in the Hamlet of East Shoreham?

For those who may not be familiar with East Shoreham:

East Shoreham is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast part of the Town of Brookhaven, in the north-central part of Suffolk County, along the Brookhaven/Riverhead town line.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of East Shoreham in the Town of Brookhaven is bordered on the north by Long Island Sound; on the east by the Hamlet of Wading River in the Town of Riverhead (the Brookhaven/Riverhead town line); on the south by the Hamlet of Ridge; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Rocky Point and the Village of Shoreham.

East Shoreham is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet's name in their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of East Shoreham have a "Shoreham, NY 11786", "Ridge, NY 11961" and "Wading River 11792" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html
