Default Wantagh

I grew up in Wantagh, south shore of L.I.,havn't been back there since 1971, after graduating Wantagh H. S. I'll probably be going back for a visit in a year or so. I'm wondering, will I recognize anything? It must have changed drastically since then. Anyone from the area??

Wantagh Park has been built up with a bike trail to Jones Beach. JB is pretty much the same, some nice rebuilt fishing piers.
Sadly the Jones Beach Theater was turned into mess with Clear Channel, Ron Delsner's daughter,SFX, Hillfigure and assorted corperates so they can pretend they dont know each and rig $$ concert promotion.
The helipad and old hotel ruens still exist east on Zacs bay.
Big changes in Freeport Nautical mile. The area has been completely rebuilt with new drainage the area is now considered posh.

Otto’s 100 year old building remains the same unmodified, Armet can still be found on the outside deck mingling with customers. His daughter more or less runs the place. New rear bar and canopy where bands play

not much has changed in Wantagh.. though I was born in 1971, so maybe it has changed alot since you were there... i can tell ya that the woods next to the wantagh parkway aren't the hangout for kids like they used to be.. It's still a nice, quiet town.. wish I could afford to still live there.
