We have a 19x19 deck on our house. Do we have to have a permit to remove it?

We bought the house almost 3 years ago and the deck was there when we bought it. I don't THINK there's a CO for it but it's on our survey. We went to the Town about a year ago to get all of the COs that were on the house and I don't think the deck was one of them. But we bought our house only 3 years ago so I don't know how we could have closed without the CO. Does it even matter if there's a CO for it?

Town of Brookhaven? Absolutely! You need a permit to have children too.

If the deck height is 18 inches or lower from the ground there was never a permit to begin with and one wasnt needed

Are you planning on replacing it with a new deck or pavers, removing it for a different construction project, or just removing it for the sake of eliminating it?
