I moved to Manorville 10 years ago I the growth has been unbelievable. There was a big jump in building after 911, and then a lot of people moved out here and got in over their heads with the taxes. A real estate agent told me Manorville has or will have one of the highest foreclosure rates on long island soon. Remember it’s not Queens. It’s a 15 minute ride to get ANYTHING. I just sold my house and will be moving to South Hampton at the end of the summer. It will be good to see sidewalks again LOL.. Goodbye Crookhaven.

For those who may not be familiar with Manorville:

Manorville is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast part of the Town of Brookhaven, in the middle of Suffolk County, along the Brookhaven/Riverhead town line.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Manorville in the Town of Brookhaven is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Calverton in the Town of Riverhead (the Brookhaven/Riverhead town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Calverton and the Hamlet of Eastport; on the south by the Hamlet of East Moriches, the Hamlet of Center Moriches, the Hamlet of Moriches and the Hamlet of Mastic; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Mastic, the Hamlet of Shirley and the Hamlet of Yaphank (includes the Brookhaven National Laboratory).

The Hamlet of Manorville has a different border than does the "Manorville, NY 11949" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Manorville, NY 11949" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Manorville and a place can have other than a "Manorville, NY 11949" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Manorville): places that have a "Manorville, NY 11949" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Manorville are in the Hamlet of Calverton, Town of Riverhead; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Manorville with a "Mastic, NY 11950" and "East Moriches, NY 11940" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

thanks for the comments,i will be working in riverhead,my company is changing my regional territory and i will be in riverhead most of the time.coming from queens it is a big change, but the wife and i are looking forward to a slower pace of life and wide open spaces.of all the places we,ve searched manorville seems to have big plots of land and very private back yards.not something you find in the city lol once again thanks

I'm lucky enough to work out of my house, and now don't have to travel much. Manorville is ok, you might want to look at the North Fork.

North Fork would be great if you are working in Riverhead. There are some wonderful little villages there that still dont cost a fortune.

There are 18 communities on the North Fork:

There are 7 hamlets (Aquebogue, Baiting Hollow, Calverton, Jamesport, Northville, Riverhead and Wading River) all or partly in the Town of Riverhead and 1 village (Greenport) and 10 hamlets (Cutchogue, East Marion, Fishers Island, Greenport West, Laurel, Mattituck, New Suffolk, Orient, Peconic and Southold) in the Town of Southold.
