That's a great idea, that's how my house is already, I am actually dormering. The space I am inquiring about is the new attic space I will have after the dormer. If you pay a little extra when dormering the will give you a raised ridge which could be 6 feet or higher depending on zoning. Now with that 6 feet attic that's what I may do something with. In fact something like what you mentioned .
