Our house in NY was like that....I don't consider that "attached" in the way I'd WANT it to be attached, or maybe I should say in the way people would assume it can be used if they see it in a real estate listing. When I see "attached garage" I am expecting to be able to walk into the house from the garage.

I would think so. In NY that is what we had, here in DE. I have a 2 car attached with an entrance. I will never be without an attached with an entrance again. Not that I plan on moving but it is that important to me, again, JMO.

We used to do that in NY...park the cars nose to nose as close to the street as possible.

Down here no one goes out if we get that much snow....just wait a few days for it to melt.

We have a cape and previous owner has converted the one car garage into a living space so we have a much bigger living room compare to other same type of cape. the finished basement is good for storage so if I have to pick I prefer having a basement. We are also building a second shed in the back yard to sort of replace the garage for more outdoor items storage. If you need the garage to actually park a car then it's a totally different story. We find having garage to park car is nice but not must.

We had a garage growing up but converted 3/4 of it to a bedroom early on, I don't remember but 1 neighbor ever putting their car in it. I have had a garage in 2 of my 3 homes (1 attached, 1 detached) I miss having it now but most homes where I live are that way and the weather is less of a concern, hopefully the next house will have one.

Yes. Having interior access to the garage is a bonus.

I agree with this. I have the sled shovel and it's still quick work though.
