If it was me I would move back in with the parents. Then I would try to get an education in a medical field. Even if its a 2 year degree in ultrasound, dental hygeine etc. Just my 2 cents.

And how do you suppose she pays for the degree without a job. And what will they eat for the next two years. You are assuming her parents are in a position to take care of her and her family.

Since the story stated she was sharing a rented house with her parents I doubt they have the means to care for her and family for two years.

Well if she becomes a hairstylist in the next few months then she might start to dig herself out of the hole. But then again, I have no idea what new Hairstylists make.

If she took out a loan amount to cover school as well as taking care of her family during for 2 years the debt would out weight and increase in pay she received. I rule of thumb is never take out more in school loans then your total 1st years salary will be. that is if you do not want ot be paying them for the rest of your life.

I am not against the idea of her going to school. and think it would be a good idea in the long run. But she needs a job 1st to care for her family. After she can feed then at night going to school should be next on her list.

This young lady deserves credit for making the best of things and trying to land on her feet.

If this was the case no one would go to school. Who starts out making more in one year than the school costs? No one I know. Not only that these loans are govt. funded loans and the rates are like 3%. Not counting the tax write off. Believe me its worth it.

I did, and most people I know as well. It is not to say you pay it back in one year. It means if your field starts out paying 30k per year, you should try not to leave with more then 30k in loans upon graduation. You should never pay for school 100% in loans. There are gov't as well as school grants to help.

You can get yourself into a life time of debt with student loans. Debt that you can't even claim bankruptcy on.

And it is not a write off for everyone. I make too much to write mine off and I am only 26.

I worked my way through collage on a mix of having a job, grants, scholarships and loans. And no I did not have help from my parents (they did not have it).
