The bill passed the House 227-205. All Democrats voted against it 13 Republicans (12 of which are from NY, NJ, CA). King and Zeldin both broke with their party on this and voted no.

Zeldin is vulnerable next year so he had no choice. King is feeling the heat as well, plus I’m sure he knew it would pass even without his vote.
Hopefully they can keep SALT and add caps to deductions......better than losing it all.
It is amazing how much we pay in tax. Funny we always talk about property tax..what about sales tax, mortgage recording tax, tax on used cars (personal peeve....double taxation), cell phone taxes....etc.

Also tolls, the highest in the country. Costs almost $30 to get off LI and onto the mainland.
During SFY 2016-2017, the NYS tax department collected $71.2 billion from state-imposed taxes and fees as follows:
personal income tax—$47.6 billion
state sales tax plus excise and user taxes—$15.2 billion
business taxes—$6.0 billion
property transfer taxes—$2.2 billion
other taxes and fees—$0.2 billion
The red states receive substantially like $2, 3, 4, 5 per $1 in their state taxes to Fed Gov't.
I 100% agree, however, that Nassau County Taxes are outrageous due to Teachers/Cops salaries.
The local districts for teachers vote yes for school budget and we all get hosed when pension comes due.
Cops forget about it passed by 2nd precinct temporary HQ today at 9am there was two ambulances and nine cars there. I guess a lot of crime in the precinct.

LOL if it weren't so impactful.
That argument has been made over and over and over by the left. NY is a rich state, due to a lot of smart people living here. True. But NY is also getting screwed by the politicians. Losers in NY: anyone that's not upper middle class-to-rich, or unionized.
Screw it. This tax plan will hurt me but I think liberal high tax states need a wake-up call.

I hate to point this out, but don't liberals / teacher / cops pay taxes?

It's all just about income.
The rhetoric that blue states send more to Washington then they get back is very true- but it's not like it's the STATE's money. It's the individual earners money that gets taken and redistributed.
The high numbers in a few places is the result of a very unequal economy that is incredibly skewed into far too few cities.
