Any insight as to why Commack High School ranking has declined so much? I am considering moving to Commack based on a the good schools but that doesn't seem to be the case now ...

From US News rankings for NYS
2012= #18
2013= #80
2017 = #193

Just move. They're fine.
No need to micro nitpick.

That list has many of our schools unranked for some reason (Bethpage, Hicksville, Wantagh, Kings Park, etc). I would wager that many schools also became ranked since 2013, bringing Commack down.

It's too bad that LI list isn't voluntarily compiled here year to year anymore. You know, for research and summaries.

Most of these lists are weighing "diversity" into their rankings now or going heavier on them than they used to. Not sure if this is the case with US News, but it seems like an overall trend.

Schools like Commack are a perfect example that would take a hit, where minority and disadvantaged enrollment is so low. White flight districts.

I will say though, Commack's rise in status is a mostly recent trend - it was just run o' the mill center LI not that long ago. Now there's homes pushing $1MM, which blows my mind. Crazy.

Here you go
I use this site to compare school districts in NY.

https://www.schooldigger.com/go/NY/d...30/search.aspx

Middle school and high school did well on tests but the intermediate schools did not. Their average scores went than compared to last year.

Well, the one positive is the lots are generally larger than 60x100.
