Let's build an arena with no prospects in sight!

I haven't read the article (yet) are they looking for IDA money, too?

Excellent idea. The Steve Bellone Arena. Another bust like Parr Meadows.

In reading through the links of projects I am amazed how much of it is housing related but where are the jobs that will allow people to afford living in these communities? Many seem well beyond the range of a reasonable daily commute to the city, did I miss something?

So much sheer stupidity.

Apartments have been built in both upper and lower Port Jeff. The ones in upper Port with the hopes of revitalizing the area (aka chase the brown people out) while the ones in lower Port are not even remotely affordable for a young couple -- unless they are professionals without a lot of college debt.

These new projects -- build houses with lots of retail, is laughable. We read about good jobs leaving LI; how is someone working a retail job going to afford the rent?

We have the same thing, they build these "New Urbanism" communities trying to recreate the urban experience but what they all lack is jobs that pay enough to live in these places so you once again must have a car and commute to a real paying job.
