Any recommendations for manual car washes in three village area? The usual automatic car wash is not good for car's paint long term so looking for manual car washes or touchless car wash services.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't give you any suggestions but I strongly agree with you about the automatic car washes. I noticed some paint chips on both of my car's bumpers after taking them to the local car wash just a few weeks ago. So I'll never take my car to one of those places again.

Maybe the chips were there already and you only noticed them when admiring your shiny car after the wash?

Check Craigslist and your local Facebook groups. Lots of talented guys out there looking to underwrite the pros. Had a guy from Mt. Sinai come to me in Holbrook and do a complete wash and detail - which included wax and polish with the wheel - for $125 which I thought was MORE than reasonable considering it's a full size pick-up. I don't have his # since I left NY, but give CL a look.

It would be a very unlikely coincidence that I got a few paint chips & slight peeling around the same spot of both cars. And I remember those flappy things at the wash hitting the cars with a lot of force. So it was either the car wash or you

Commack Hand Car Wash is the only one I know of around here...though not in the Three Village area.

I went to a "hand car wash" once, where it was set up just like a normal car wash...I was really confused going in, they got me on the line, lined me up with the machine, got me on the belt...then when I got inside, I saw all the water and soap of a regular car wash, but the wheels, brushes, bands, etc, were replaced by a bunch of Mexicans with rags in raingear. It looked like the opening credits for Gilligan's Island.

Not at all what I expected.

Sounds like poor paint work.
A factory finish or properly repaired paint job should never peel.
A carwash doesnt normally cause chips. They can cause scratches and scuffs.

Touch of Class on Middle Country Rd in St James is a brushless car wash. They are great at what they do, their detailing is superb.
