hi
good news is I grieved my assessment and won only thing is I can't figure out how much I'll be saving I called the tax office and they told me that I saved 17% but what I don't know is the 17% on my whole tax bill including the school tax or just the general tax

my assessed value was 789 it got reduced to 651 a 138 reduction

my school tax was 8,742.77 minus the basic star of 1405.00 equals 7648.73
general tax was 4105.86

I am totally lost here and really need some help I can't make heads or tails of this

I can figure out if its 17% of the whole bill I should save around 2k if it is on the total taxes
but like I said I dunno if this includes the school tax

thank everyone for any help you can give

The truth of the matter is, you won't know the full amount of your savings until the new tax rate is published. Your new rate will go into effect next January for general and next (2019) October for schools. You can multiply 651 by your current tax rates to see how much you would have saved this year. Your assessment # of 789 was reduced by approximately 17% to 651. So in essence, you are saving 17%. It's just not necessarily 17% of what you are paying now.

The way the system is set up, your taxes may still increase.
Not to be a Debbie-downer but it's possible.

Very unlikely but it won’t be a 17% drop.
