This is the only reason we have a landline. Other than that I don't ever use it.

Had to drop Verizon for a couple of months to get any substantial reduction. I had every channel, 75/75 internet and phone for 220/month (on 3 TVs). I wanted to drop the phone but ther was no savings in it. The way they tier their packages, I could drop channels for minimal savings, but every tier has one or two "must have" channels, to where the savings just wasn't worth it.

I dropped them altogether except internet, got 100/100 for $75/month, then tried streaming TV...Sling/Amazon/Netflix/DirectTVNow. Sling worked the best, but didn't have all the local channels or all the sports networks. Went back to Verizon, got double play, now paying 150/month for pretty much every channel, and 100/100 internet (on one TV). What I learned is, most cable channels stream for free, as long as you carry them with a major provider. So I downloaded all the channel apps to my Roku's, and stream them free on my other two TVs.

It was a learning experience so it was worth it for me...but in the end, I didn't really gain much. YMMV with another carrier.

Have a 1000/1000 connection through FIOS and an antenna for local channels. I use my own router to save on the rental. Two iPhones and one 4G iPad through Verizon and a backup cell through Ting that we call the “house line”. No land line, no cable. $225 per month for everything including the four 4G devices. Grandfathered into a Onebill discount and have another 20% off due to an educational discount. I can knock another $15-$20 per month for a year if I call up and complain. It would be cheaper for triple-play tier internet but I transfer a ton of data so it’s worth it to me for the speed.

Check your bills. Landlines and cable are more expensive than the package prices claim because there are a ton of taxes and fees added onto your bill (such as $15 per month for your DVR plus each additional box). That $199 a month is actually closer to $250 or higher depending on how many TVs you have

I have Verizon triple play, 75/75 internet, all cable channels including Cinemax (except now they don't play X-rated movies anymore), and phone for three TV's at $154, two year agreement. I know I am not going to get that rate again, so may drop all the premium channels, and see what they come up with for internet and basic TV,

Almost the same pkg except 2 tvs and we were just raised from $123 to $151. Huge increase over the course of a year, let alone 2. You're gonna get hiked!

Gas and electric have my cell....when we lose power I call from that phone and it's matched to my address so they can locate the problem...they text me when it's gonna be back on and other updates.

IDK what phone is on record with the Town of Cary here (garbage/water/sewer). Could even be my old 516 number. I should check.
