Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a home in the patchogue area. Wondering if anyone can give some insight into the area just east of Medford Ave. (112) between sunrise and Montauk hwy. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been down there since last year but there were 3 bar/dance clubs- 2 on 112 and 1 at corner of 27a/bay ave that cater to the significant illegal columbian and el salvadoran populations in the area that have frequently been scenes of shootings, stabbings, and nightly fights. There is a 24 hr. bodega next to one of the bars that is a congregation location for many drunks and homeless splitting time between the 7-11 at the end of 112. On the plus side the chinese massage/rub n tug was shutdown I think.

I am not from Patchogue, but I have been there frequently. My first time was in 2004, and I can tell you I did not feel safe walking the streets. However, today, I have no issues walking in town. With this being said, there are still some issues in Patchogue. I'm sure the issues are street by street. I would consider it as a good investment. Patchouge seems to be getting better and better due to good leadership.

112 is a one of a couple important dividing lines between suburban style Suffolk and the more exurban rural vibe.

generally the area east of 112 south of sunrise is a bad area. not horrible like gordon heights but still bad. You want to stay west of 112 that far south. Farther north into medford you can go east . Your in the same school district up until north of granny road on the west of 112 and eagle estates on the east of 112.
