I need a replacement car key for my Honda Odyssey. It’s one of the newer transponder type. The dealer has offered to cut and program a new key for a small fortune. Does anyone know of a locksmith who does this service for a reasonable fee? If so, what is the fee? Preferably Nassau County. Thanks.

Yes Ace Hardware does. I saw a sign in the window of the Ace Hardware in East Islip. Give them a call and ask.

I seriously doubt Ace Hardware can make a wireless/transponder key for a car.

OP, google it - I am pretty sure you can get one off one of the safer re-sale websites.

If your car has a transponder in the key head, you can't just use an all-brass key.
We can cut keys for many newer makes and models from the following manufacturers: Acura Buick Cadillac Chevrolet Ford Honda Infinity Lincoln Mazda Mercury Nissan Oldsmobile Pontiac ...more coming soon.

I think you need a spare key to get the transponder code first, then they can duplicate it onto a new key. If you lost all of your keys, you are SOL. Same thing happened to me a few years ago when I had lost both keys. Had to get car towed to a Ford dealership and they put in a new PATS system.

I don't know what the dealer quoted you but most locksmiths are going to charge around 100 dollars for a chipped key. There really isn't a cheaper way around it.
