I have a couple of questions regarding fences and residing in the town of smithtown. I am buying a house which does not have a fence. I have a dog so a fence is needed. Also, I am thinking about installing a semiinground pool. My husband likes black aluminum fences and I don’t mind pvc fences however I get worried that the backyard will look boxy with a pvc fence. I plan on placing a black chain link fence across the back yard as there’s only nature back there and the neighbor is distant. I would either do pvc or aluminum on the sides of the home that enclose the yard from the front. Both neighbors already have fences so I don’t need to enclose the sides.
My questions are:
1. Does anyone know if the town of smithtown is ok with aluminum fences when a pool is involved? The aluminum would enclose both sides of the house which you can see if you’re facing the front of the home. The back of the house will be black chain link and the neighbors already have chain link on one side and pvc on the other side which I plan on not doing anything with. I’ve tried calling the town to ask questions but they’re so not helpful. They keep telling me I need to file for a pool permit first but my issue is, I may not get a pool. I have to see if it’s doable and my priority right now is enclosing the yard bc I have a dog.
2. Please recommend a fence company that you’ve had a good experience with whether it’s pvc or aluminum. I’ve heard in the past that Rose Fence has issues with their gates and they need adjusting often. Not sure how true that is these days.
Pool fencing is about the height and self closing gates, not the type of fence. Spacing between rails can't exceed 4".
Thank you for the info. Do you think the town would give an issue if I did 4 foot fencing in the back part of the property or does it need to be 6’ high all around the yard?
Pipeline fence. They did mine last year. I was very happy with them.
