I'd be offended because Italians are not white folk.

Mexicans tend to dislike African Americans with a passion (as seen in LA) so if there was a large influx of them then I could easily see blatino places like Hempstead, Uniondale, New Cassel and Central Islip really explode.
That's not exactly true, there are many NYC neighborhoods that have both African-Americans/West Indians and Mexican people and they seem to peacefully coexist. Many Bronx neighborhoods, East Harlem, Flatbush, Bushwick, etc.

That's not to say they're super close or anything, but there doesn't seem to be any tension.

I couldn't possibly care less, it would be an improvement on what non-whites currently get away with.

I don't think you'd feel that way if it were actually something that happened in real life

Without actually speaking to someone, how do you know if they are Mexican or not though? It's not like you can tell by looking @ them ...

Of course. But if you live somewhere you can figure these things out by socializing with them. I'm familiar the demographics of my town just by having lived here for a while.

Also, the presence of ethnic businesses is another sign

At least the Mexicans down here in SW Florida don't ****, whine and moan all day long like most Long Islanders. They're too busy busting it trying to earn a living.
