Yep. What will end up happening is cable companies will start putting data caps on internet only accounts and charge you more for overages (already happening in some places) to penalize cord cutters. Of course if you get a traditional cable package you get exempt from this.

Maybe in NY but not elsewhere. Comcast is putting 1TB caps on everything but their gigabit tier in every state that doesn’t prohibit caps.

I dont even know why they call getting rid of your cable TV and phone, "cutting the cord"

You haven't proverbially cut any cords if you have a router and are still getting dedicated Internet service to your house

To me cutting the cord means you do not own a router in your house and you are accessing someone else's WiFi for Internet access.

Up from $18 last agreement. Either way, considering I don't like paying much above $100 for my monthly triple play, having $25 being fees they tack on is pretty outrageous. It used to be that a phone company has to pay more in fees/taxes so Cablevision wasn't subjected to that and was a better option. If they are $16 now, that's pretty high too.
Here's mine - not sure why it's lower (maybe because I don't rent cable box? I have Tivo):
Taxes, Governmental Fees&Surcharges
NYState and Local Sales Tax 1.42
911 Surcharge .35
NYState and Local Tax Surcharges 2.80
Video Franchise Fee 1.94
Federal Universal Service Fee 1.31
Regulatory Recovery Fee - Federal .08
Regional Sports Network Fee 6.39
Fios TV Broadcast Fee 3.49
FDV Administrative Charge .99
NYMunicipal Construction Surcharge 2.49
Subtotal $21.26

It looks like the new Altice One charges quite a bit for equipment but I am tired of playing the FIOS game. How happy are folks with the Altice One service?

I'm curious: if you want to use your own modem and cable card, is that still possible with Altice/Optimum? Or are they forcing the Altice One on everyone?
