And for the person who suggested Island Rescue - thank you! It is very sad when someone has something constructive to say but feels they have to DM because they don't want the bully kids on the block to attack them. And for the people who gave me REP for my post - thank you. I appreciated your comments that as people with multiple pets - you agree and can't afford to pay $100+ dollars to walk in the door for an exam.

Seriously. Why do you post if you can't manage to say anything helpful - is your real life that pathetic? I'm sorry for you.
Ha! Now THAT'S funny... First day on the CD forum??

“For those entering veterinary school in the Fall of 2016, the estimated total cost of attendance (tuition + fees + average living expenses, assuming a 4% increase each year) for four years ranges from $147,000 to $250,000 for in-state resident tuition at a public institution. Non-resident tuition at public institutions ranges from $191,000 to $338,000. At private institutions the total estimated cost ranges from $264,000 to $393,000.”

How much does it cost to attend veterinary school? - I Want to be a Veterinarian - VIN Foundation - VIN

Add in staff, insurance, office fees and I would be surprised if any vet other than a rescue charity charges $30.

I live in Atlanta (where people say it's cheap??!) and my vet charges $58 for an exam. It's a thorough exam with email follow up, etc. Having grown up on Long Island I'd say I wouldn't trust a vet who charged only $30 for an exam.

I have family who are vets on LI. Even with the “friends and family” rate I pay more than $30, and wouldn’t expect to pay less than I do. Being a vet today is a tough business.

When I go to the vet, it takes about the same time if i'm at a doctors office. I get charged less overall. Even when they give me an exam and shots.

Their bedside manner is better than a doctor and I get my ears scratched and a treat every visit.

And I get the cute assistant holding me down while I get examined. I don't get that at the regular doctors office.
