Need to get my yard treated for ticks. This past week alone I feel like I have been swarmed. Found three on me while in the house after being outside.

Looking for recommendations from people who have prior experience from companies. There are a ton out there that are shady as hell, and not looking forward to the companies that harass, charge but donít show, or come and spray when I donít want, etc.

Put on clothing that covers you up, go to Home Depot, spend $20 on something that hooks up to your hose and get to work.

This thread is relevant to my interests. I got a quote from Koch and Alternative Earthcare, both pretty similar in price. I need my trees sprayed for gypsy moth caterpillars as well, which seems to up the price.

I used that stuff once last year, not sure if I noticed a difference. Seems like the chemicals are all the same whether its a company doing it or you buy it from the store.

I hear horror stories about Alternative Earthcare, relating to my concerns in my 1st post.

I’ve been calling actual exterminators with mild success.

Exactly. NY is pretty restrictive, especially near water.

I sort of fell down an internet rabbit hole researching this yesterday, and it seems like the most popular chemical in the country is banned for consumer sale in NY, but if you're a business you can buy it. Typical.

Anyway, the stuff is so damn cheap I'll probably give it a go myself and see.

I just had a company spray my property yesterday. He uses an all natural garlic spray thats suppose to be safe for kids, pets, plants, bees and it repels ticks, mosquitos and fleas. My property smelled like a pizzeria for about 15 minutes. i was charge $120 and i have an acre. https://mosquitomanny.wordpress.com/page/

Problem with that is its only good for 3 weeks or so because of rain or sprinklers, and you need to get repeat treatments all season.

I wound up going with a granular treatment which was more expensive up front but will also last longer, and works fine if not better when it rains because it gets distributed. Treatment was $279 and guaranteed for 3 months.
