Hi everyone. I have been posting about different places that I am considering a move to. One of the places that friends have suggested is Massapequa Park. For people that have been to Farmingdale, Huntington, Northport as well as Massapequa Park-how do they compare? We want to live within a mile of a walkable "town". So much work commuting time either in car or train want to be able to actually walk to someplace.....Thanks!

Really depend what you are looking for. Massapequa Park has a nice, but more of a quiet small family oriented downtown area. Farmingdale has a much livelier twenty and thirty something oriented downtown.

Park and Clark would be the 'town' area of Massapequa Park. You can easily walk to the town or the train from the president streets just north of Clark. They're in a n It's much smaller in scale compare with Huntington Village, not as busy and diverse as Farmindale. Little more family oriented like Northport.
If you enjoy bicycling, you will be close to the Massapequa preserve which has the Bethpage Bikeway. The bikeway runs from Merrick Rd and the Massapequa reservoir to Bethpage State Park.
Thanks everyone. My husband and I will have all kids in college in September so we are older than the Farmingdale crowd. Thanks for the information!
If you are not concerned about school district, I would suggest the area of the Village of Massapequa Park zoned for Farmingdale schools. I'm not here to start a debate about school districts, but the market indicates that Farmingdale is not as good and you will get more house for your money. The area is on the northern part of Massapequa Park and would be a bit of a walk to downtown, but not unmanageable.
