I wonder how much money was spent on the jury to buy them off for the mistrial here and the acquittal in the other case

When I saw the original charges against Mangano and Venditto the case looked like a stretch to me. They got favors like free limo rides and free food. Big deal. The worst thing seemed to be the no-show job for Mangano's wife. Is that really worse than the nepotism in Long Island politics where family members are routinely put in high paying government jobs? How about cracking down on that.

I agree on all counts.

Plus the star witness against the three of them was an admitted liar. Credibility of witnesses can be a very strong factor to a jury.

What about the FBI agent, is she also a liar?

All true. The case was awful and their star witness was a disaster looking to save his own skin. Look at it this way Most long islanders HATE local politicians and would love to put a corrupt one away, yet despite this Venditto is completely cleared, and couldn’t come close to a verdict on Mangano or his wife the professional “taste tester”. That’s how bad this case was.

She’s not a liar but her main witness sure was. Remember all you need is reasonable doubt.

Obvious criminals walk yet a few years ago Rice was happy to drag 50 names in the mud during “flush the Johns” and couldn’t get convictions either.
