Ironically this thread from 2011 popped up in a Google search - it apparently didn't end well...

Best Chinese Restaurant (take out or eat in)
I'm dying re-reading that little nugget!

That place is stuck in 1975. Killer mai-tai's.
This is where we landed on Friday night. Was very good and exactly the time travel that I was seeking. Mai-Tai's were phenomenal as well. Tasted like more. Unfortunately, I was driving and had the kids with us.

Gonna try the one in Wantagh next.

That place has been the same since my parents took us there in the mid 1970s. Haven't been there since we moved south but it was a great food.

Palace of Wong on Sunrise Highway in RVC. If it's still there had really good food. Fortune Garden in Babylon was like this but now it's called Fancy Lee and I haven't been back since they changed owners.

Palace of Wong has closed and is now a PM Pediatrics. Fancy Lee is "Asian Fusion". Went once. Didn't like it.

Another vote for Kwon Ming in Wantagh. Also Orchid in Garden City, dame owner since it opened in 1986 and the food is consistently awesome, albeit more expensive than the usual corner ‘chicken gristle with gloop poured on it’ places.
