Iím sure this has been asked before but, anyone have a recommendation on an old school Chinese restaurant? Sit down, the pot of tea, stale fried noodles? Combination dinners with the ice cream for dessert.

Not a buffet and not fusion.

Kwong Ming in Wantagh. Grab a pu pu platter and a volcano to wash it down with.

You must try: Hoi Ming 469 Main St, West Sayville

That place is stuck in 1975. Killer mai-tai's.

Any particular place? Jani's in Franklin Square is like that. And you can marvel at the 318 teapots along the glass wall.

There was also a restaurant RVC that had that 70's look. Every time I went all I could think about was the scene from a Christmas Story when they go out to dinner lol

Where are you located? Lotus East 2 in Mount Sinai and Golden Dynasty in St James offers all of that for their lunch/dinner special. Ancient Ginger in St James also has the tea and fried noodles as part of their lunch/dinner specials but I don't think it includes ice cream.

Albert's Mandarin Gourmet in Huntington village is the same owner of the original Tung Ting on the corner of Jericho and New York Ave (CVS now). Still one of the best 'old school' places.

Ironically this thread from 2011 popped up in a Google search - it apparently didn't end well...

Best Chinese Restaurant (take out or eat in)

You are likely referring to the palace of Wong in RVC it closed a few years back. Is an urgent care now.

Ancient Ginger is very good, it is our go-to. It doesn't have the old school feel the OP is looking for, though.
