What is the deal with ISP? Do they want to expand that to LGA capacity? Does the town want that? The residents? The rest of LI? Just curious, it is super convenient, but the airline choices are awful. Would love to see Jet Blue fly out of there.

The nimbys who bought houses next to the airport shoot down any expansion plans. Jet blue was supposed to move in, but the locals went nuts. Southwest now has limited direct flights anywhere, and frontier, well it's frontier..yuck. ISP airport is almost useless now.

Frontier...also known as the "subway of the skies"
Would love to use Islip more often. Southwest has limited options. Was hopeful with Frontier. Only to be quickly disappointed. Service to Fort Meyers ended almost before it started. Service to Tampa is very limited to three days a week, and looking like it's going the way of Fort Meyers.
It's amazing there are NO airlines flying out of ISP. What the heck is the place there for?
The last time we were to ISP, the walls needed painting and the restrooms were disgusting. Woodwork was worn and chipped. The parking lot is horrendous. All pot holes. The airport is very outdated and it's destinations are very limited.
Leaves us with JFK.
LGA...even Ebola wouldn't fly into LGA.

Thanks to all of the Nimby's who shot down the idea of letting jet Blue come to Islip. All of us schleps who have to travel to the other 2 nightmare airports really want to thank you. Keep being Nimby's it seems to really work out for you.

NIMBYville, NY

Population: 3 cities, 2 towns, 54 villages, and a bunch of hamlets

Irony is that maybe some of that airplane noise you guys keep yapping about from JFK might have been diverted to ISP to spread it around maybe. You'll never know now

I'm not yapping about noise from either airport. We have the east end helicopter traffic Wednesday night- Sunday night. We haven't had issues to date with ISP air traffic. I guess we're just far enough that the planes are higher upon approach, or most of their traffic comes/goes to the south.

Tthe area around ISP has been largely developed (and is in the process of more development) that the only way to bring it even remotely to size to accommodate more flights/runways would be through eminent domain. If they take the industrial park to the west, there goes 1,000's of jobs. If they take from the east, 1,000 become homeless. To the north the LIRR, the MacArthur composting facility and proposed stadium. To the south, another industrial park.

I have never yapped about airplane noise but what bugs me is those that do. I'd love it if ISP became an airport like JFK.
