Jones Beach LIRR Hotel Suggestions (Freeport, Rockville Centre: hotels, garden, train station)

I'll be seeing a concert at Jones Beach this summer and won't be driving. I'm looking for a hotel that is located within reasonable walking distance to a LIRR stop. I'll be catching the Jones Beach shuttle to and from the show via the Freeport stop, so that area would be ideal.

I have been to Jones Beach before, only via car. We stayed at the Gateway Inn in Merrick. I don't remember if that was near the Merrick station, close enough to walk to it. Also, what about a cab to and from concert venue instead of depending on the shuttle?

The Gateway Inn is less than 1/2 mile from the Merrick train station.

The Garden City hotel is across the street from an LIRR stop. The line doesn't go to Freeport, but a car service/cab would not be too bad.

Here's a couple of places in Rockville Centre...should be close to LIRR and very close to Freeport.
