Hi all,

trying to figure out the logistics of dropping kids off at daycare, parking the car, and getting on the LIRR to be in the city at work by 8am (work is downtown in the financial district). currently located near the hicksville LIRR which is a zoo in the mornings.

I'm going to have to do this commute from September to January until we move into our house.

According to the MTA website, there is free, unrestricted parking at Merrick, Bellmore, Carle place, Merillon Ave, and further west, at Broadway.

Does anyone have any feedback on the parking situation at these stations? is it completely crazy? Would i get a parking spot with ease if i got there by 645/7am the latest?

Ideally i'd drop the kids off at daycare by 630 and haul ass to park and jump on the train. depending on the parking situation, i'd look for daycares closer to stations with favorable parking.

Thanks in advance

Assuming you live in town if oyster bay Just pay the $100 for a parking permit. At 7am you will find parking w/o an issue at hicksville. I have been parking in the street for free at hicksville for 4 years now since I take a 820 train and lots are full by 745.

If you use the Mineola station, there is free parking in the parking lot behind health-trax on franklin ave. It's about a 7 minute walk from there to the station (when cutting through the adjacent police parking lot).

Plenty of parking. Never had an issue.

I believe the free LIRR parking in Bellmore is just under the track itself; everything else requires a permit.
They tend to fill up fast (before 7am).

The guy asked about free parking. Not to pay $120+ a month to park. You deserve an infraction.

No problem. There is always availability. It is a huge lot that seems to only be utilized by gym members there. I have yet to see it anywhere close to being full. I try to park in the last few rows, furthest from Health-Trax.

In the rare event it is ever full there is the huge lord and taylor parking lot right next to it.. but that will add a couple of more minutes onto your walk.

I know some people park at Broadway Commons mall parking lot and walk to Hicksville train station. Don't park near the edge of the mall since police will be keeping track of those cars and distribute tickets. Might even get towed.

To be safer, there are street parking on the other side of Old country road. It's further away but many people park there and walk.
