Island Park ... a small neighborhood, huh? It may be small, but a neighborhood it ain't. For those who may not be familiar with Island Park: Island Park is a village (incorporated in 1926) in the southwest part of the Town of Hempstead, in the southwest part of Nassau County. Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Village of Island Park in the Town of Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Wreck Lead Channel and the Hamlet of Barnum Island; on the east by the Hamlet of Barnum Island; on the south by the Reynolds Channel; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Harbor Isle. ![]() Island Park is one of those villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of places with the community name as part of their mailing address are not in the village: places that have an "Island Park, NY 11558" mailing address that are not in the Village of Island Park are in the Hamlet of Barnum Island and the Hamlet of Harbor Isle. For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): Excellent Long Island Geographic Resource |

For those who may not be familiar with Long Beach: Long Beach is a city (chartered in 1922) located on Long Beach Island in the southwest part of Nassau County. Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the City of Long Beach is bordered on the north by Hewlett Bay and Reynolds Channel; on the east by the Hamlet of Lido Beach in the Town of Hempstead; on the south by the Atlantic Ocean; and, on the west by the Hamlet of East Atlantic Beach in the Town of Hempstead. ![]() The City of Long Beach has a different border than does the "Long Beach, NY 11561" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Long Beach, NY 11561" mailing address and not be in the City of Long Beach): places that have a "Long Beach, NY 1561" mailing address that are not in the City of Long Beach are in the Hamlet of East Atlantic Beach and the Hamlet of Lido Beach, both of these hamlets are in the Town of Hempstead. For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): Excellent Long Island Geographic Resource |

Ive lived in Oceanside over 40 years, so I am very familiar with the area, the schools, doctors, shopping, etc. I would recommend it without hesitation.....as long as you are aware of the high property taxes. (I guess coming from CA it wont be a shocker!!) Rockville Centre is also a great option. Good Luck. |

Oceanside is very nice. Rockville Centre is a good place too but the taxes are a killer. SOUTH I repeat SOUTH Hempstead is a small community that is in Rockville Centre school district with low taxes. If you contact any realtor in Rockville Centre they will know about South Hempstead. Good Luck I am assuming the hospital you will be working at is South Nassau???
